Financial Policy & Compliance

How Mall of the World handles payments, vendor payouts, and regulatory compliance

Last updated: April 2026

Mall of the World is a multi-vendor digital marketplace operated by BOSSROSSY. This Financial Policy outlines how the platform manages revenue, processes payments, facilitates vendor payouts, and upholds compliance with applicable laws and regulations — including South African legislation (POPIA) and international standards recognised by payment gateways such as Stripe, PayPal, and Paystack.

1. Revenue Structure

The platform operates a transparent dual-fund model that clearly distinguishes between funds belonging to the platform and funds belonging to individual vendors.

Platform Revenue (BOSSROSSY Earnings)

Income earned directly by BOSSROSSY for operating the marketplace:

  • Monthly or annual vendor subscription fees (e.g. R100/month per store)
  • Commission charged on each successful product sale processed through the platform
  • Any additional service or listing fees as published from time to time

Vendor Funds (Held on Behalf of Vendors)

Customer payments collected for goods sold by independent vendors:

  • These funds belong to the respective vendor, not to BOSSROSSY
  • They are temporarily held by the platform pending order verification and completion
  • Platform commission is deducted before the net amount is released to the vendor
  • BOSSROSSY acts as a payment facilitator, not the merchant of record for vendor products

2. Payment Handling

All customer payments are processed through trusted, PCI-DSS-compliant payment gateways. The platform takes the following approach to payment management:

  • Payments are collected securely via integrated gateways (Stripe, PayPal, Payfast, or equivalent)
  • Funds from customer sales may be temporarily held for a processing and verification period before payout
  • Holds exist to protect against fraud, chargebacks, and disputed transactions
  • Once an order is confirmed as successfully delivered or completed, vendor payout is initiated
  • The platform maintains a clear record of all inflows and outflows for audit and compliance purposes
  • Customers receive order confirmation and payment receipts upon successful transactions

3. Tax Responsibility & Clarification

⚠️ Important: BOSSROSSY is taxed only on its own earnings — not on the full value of transactions processed on behalf of vendors.

  • BOSSROSSY declares and is liable for tax only on platform revenue: subscription fees and commission income
  • The full value of a customer transaction is NOT treated as BOSSROSSY income — only the platform's commission portion is
  • Vendor earnings are the sole financial and tax responsibility of the individual vendor
  • Vendors are responsible for registering with SARS (or their local tax authority) and declaring their income appropriately
  • The platform provides transaction records and payout summaries to assist vendors with their own tax obligations
  • Where legally required, the platform may collect tax identification information from vendors

4. Vendor Payout System

Mall of the World is committed to transparent, timely, and accurate payouts to all registered vendors.

  • Payouts are calculated based on gross sales revenue minus the applicable platform commission (currently 10%)
  • Vendors receive a net payout equal to: Gross Sales − Platform Commission = Net Vendor Payout
  • Payouts are typically processed on a weekly or monthly cycle, as communicated to vendors
  • Current payout methods may include manual bank transfers or electronic payment methods as agreed upon during vendor onboarding
  • Vendors are notified when a payout has been processed and receive a breakdown of the calculation
  • In cases of disputes, chargebacks, or refunds, the relevant amounts may be withheld or adjusted from future payouts
  • The platform reserves the right to place a payout on hold if fraud, policy violations, or unresolved disputes are identified

Future Enhancement: Automated Split Payments

The platform intends to introduce automated split-payment technology, where vendor funds and platform commission are automatically separated at the point of transaction — improving speed, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.

5. Compliance & Protection Measures

BOSSROSSY is committed to operating a compliant, transparent, and secure marketplace that protects all parties — customers, vendors, and the platform operator.

Vendor Onboarding & Agreements

  • All vendors must accept the Vendor Agreement before listing products or receiving payouts
  • Vendor identity and business information may be verified before payouts are processed
  • Vendors must provide accurate banking and contact details for payout purposes

Published Platform Policies

  • Terms & Conditions governing platform usage
  • Privacy Policy aligned with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act) and GDPR principles
  • Refund & Returns Policy outlining buyer and vendor obligations
  • Vendor Agreement detailing financial obligations, prohibited conduct, and account management

Record-Keeping & Audit Trail

  • All transactions, orders, and payouts are recorded and stored securely
  • Payout records include gross revenue, commission deducted, and net payout per vendor per period
  • Records are maintained for a minimum period in line with applicable tax and business law requirements
  • Vendors and the platform operator can access their respective financial records on request

Fraud Prevention & Transaction Monitoring

  • Suspicious transactions are flagged and reviewed before payouts are processed
  • Chargebacks and disputed payments are investigated before funds are released
  • Accounts showing signs of fraudulent activity may be suspended pending investigation
  • The platform cooperates fully with payment gateway fraud monitoring systems

6. Future Platform Improvements

Mall of the World is continuously improving its financial infrastructure to better serve vendors, customers, and compliance requirements:

  • Introduction of automated split-payment systems to separate vendor funds from platform revenue at point of sale
  • Integration with additional payment gateways to offer more options for vendors and customers
  • Enhanced real-time payout dashboards giving vendors full visibility of their earnings and commission deductions
  • Automated tax reporting tools to assist vendors in meeting their obligations
  • Expanded currency and cross-border payout support for international vendors
